Subjunctive Past (仮定法過去)

If I had more time, I would travel the world.

（もっと時間があれば、世界を旅するのに。）

If she knew the answer, she would tell us.

（彼女が答えを知っていれば、私たちに教えてくれるのに。）

If it rained today, we would cancel the picnic.

（もし今日雨が降ったら、ピクニックを中止するのに。）

If I were rich, I would buy a big house.

If they had known about the party, they might have come.

（もしパーティーのことを知っていたら、来たかもしれない。）

（先生は全員が宿題を提出することを要求している。）

I recommend that you take a rest.

Subjunctive Future (仮定法未来)

If it should rain tomorrow, we will cancel the picnic.

（もし明日雨が降ったら、ピクニックを中止するでしょう）

If you should see him, please tell him to call me.

（もし彼に会ったら、私に電話するよう伝えてください）

If I were to win the lottery, I would travel the world.

（もし宝くじに当たったら、世界を旅するだろう）
